Seems like the watch spends more time on sale than it does at full price. Are they not selling well?

They sell, but they aren't flying off the shelves because of product saturation. The Series 10 was a "meh" upgrade, and another year lacking a proper Blood Ox sensor continues to make the Series 8 the much better buy frankly.
I picked up a Series 8 SS for 199 from Walmart in November, and I am very happy with it. Apple would have to significantly step up its game with the Series 11 or the next version of WatchOS to inspire another super-upgrade event like they saw with the Series 4, 6 and to a lesser extent 8.

Didn't know there were 8's still out there. I have a 7 with a non-functioning ECG. Don't know what happened but it stopped working a few months ago. I'm holding out for whatever an Ultra 3 might be.

Oh it was brand new in box, and it came with a very old version of WatchOS installed so I assume it had been sitting in a warehouse for awhile and Walmart decided to just dump their stock. Found out about the sale from SlickDeals.

I don't think it's necessarily the "features" that are making the Watch sales rather low the past few years. I think it's battery life combined with spending $250 minimum for a watch that many may care less about for all the exercise/health benefits. I've never met anyone who as the SE so we're now mainly talking about a $400+ Watch.

The Watch is 10+ years old and I still have to charge the darn thing every. single. day.

Apple should:
  • Make Watches more female and male oriented. Women prefer smaller and rounder while men prefer bigger.
  • People (mostly men) don't need a super thin watch. Make the Watch (or some subset of it) much thicker so it can have far better battery life. There are plenty of men out here who prefer large(er) watches in length, width, and height. The plus side of being much bigger is a far better battery. My Series 7 is awesome but I have other watches that weigh 2x this Watch and the extra weight doesn't bother me in the slightest. The Ultra exists, of course, but sorry, not many people are going to plunk down $800+ to get the extra 18 hours of battery life.
  • Figure out how to make a better battery and/or include some features that allow the Watch to reduce power consumption. I've asked Apple to have some kind of scheduled "don't send me texts/alerts/etc." feature such as "only alert me texts (but new email alerts are welcome all the time) from 9am-6pm" which would greatly reduce the battery consumption 6pm-9am when it's not constantly pinging the iPhone as well as pinging me via sound and display notifications and using wifi/bluetooth. So far I have not seen said feature.

… I have to charge my phone everyday as well. I drop my watch on the charger before shaving and showering in the morning before work. It’s full when I put it back on 30-40 minutes later so again I seriously don’t get your gripe here.

It's not really a gripe...but it takes more like 60+ minutes for a full charge for me. I really don't use the Watch that much...I get a few phone call alerts during the day, maybe 15 text alerts during the day, maybe 5 email alerts during the day and that's it. It's on my wrist 8am-10pm.

But my real gripe would be when I'm NOT at home...I gotta drag this very unique charger around...need to charge it every day...and in general when I'm on vacation I frankly forget to charge it overnight (because I'm on vacation and not in my routine) and now I wake up with a 25% battery. Sure, I can charge it for 1+ hours while I head out in the morning but then I need to go back to the room and get my Watch. Even going away for 1+ days requires me to remember my charger and cable AND to charge it. I want to be able to charge it Friday morning at 7am, go away for the weekend, and not have to worry about it until Monday at noon.

Again, I don't have any crazy gripes about my Series 7 but I think the main con for the Watch is the poor battery life when there seem to be a few obvious improvements Apple can make (thicker watches and thus larger batteries, better batteries, scheduling of alerts, etc. that I listed above) that should make significant improvements in battery life.

Agree 100%. I've been playing hockey with my 0, 3, and 7 for over a decade and they've held up well. My next watch will be an Ultra, primarily for that extended battery life.
