And Apple Pencil 2 on Amazon (sold by and shipped by) is still on sale for $99, regularly $129 so $30 off. Maybe that's worth an affiliate link too.

The $299 iPad is probably the best bargain of any Apple product you can get these days. The return on investment is pretty high.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't snap up an Apple TV 4K at this price?

What could updated hardware possibly offer? a FindMy-capable Remote? Anything else?
8K video, 4K120 video, and WiFi 6e is all I can think of. It already has HDMI 2.1 and Thread support for Matter/HomeKit.

EDIT: I did think of some other things, such as UWB support and potential lossless audio with upcoming AirPods Pro 2. There's also HDR10+ for Samsung TV's. Perhaps Bluetooth 5.3 support for more advanced audio.

Sounds great, but I don't need any of that for my little bedroom TV I'm looking to outfit with an Apple TV.

The main thing I'd be interested in is a low-cost Apple TV stick for this old, small TV that can't even handle 4K. Even the current model seems overkill for what I'm looking for. It would be worth getting in case I upgrade the TV, tho. Definitely don't need 8K!

So I ended up getting the ATV 4K. Was delivered a few hours ago.

I do feel a slight a performance boost in app loading times and navigating within apps.
HDR looks better. (Have no idea why yet). Definitely not a placebo effect.
Youtube app can play higher quality.
It take advantage of wifi 6. Speed tests are slightly faster. Not speaking of wifi 6e though.

I was happy with the previous remote, but the new remote is good as well. The options to swipe or click is a plus. My only real gripe about the new remote is the clicking is loud.

As far as the sound goes, it's just playing through my TV speakers. But I plan on getting a pair of HomePod minis for sound. I heard they work well.

I moved my older ATV 4K to my desktop monitor which has picture in picture.

Ya missed the best Apple deal ... $100 off Apple Series 7 watches at Walmart ... 41mm is down from $399 to $299, 45mm is down from $429 to $329. I picked up my first Apple Watch.
Hopefully in a few weeks when Apple announces the Apple Watch 8, the various stores will offer deeper discounts as they try to move the old product off the shelf. Good luck!
