Not seeing that price on amazon in my cart on checkout. M2 Macbook Air. Womp womp.

My bad! Be sure to select "coupon" for additional $150 off.

Apple "October Event" nowhere to be seen, but deals on older models of Macbooks keep popping up, I wonder if these two things are connected in some way...

They've also been consistently doing these deals in the 8 gb models recently. I wonder if that's connected to Apple's AI needs.

$700 for the M2 MacBook Air is a fantastic deal. Too bad it’s 8GB. If they sold the 16GB version for the same relative-savings ($900 or so), that would be an easy purchase decision.

All these deals are only for USA right? Does anyone know if at the same time with these deals there are equivalent deals in Europe?

I rarely see discounts outside of the US reported on here, other than the iPhone discounts in China because sales are tanking there.

Amazon knows that the M4 MBA is going to be a major upgrade. The 8gb RAM MBAs are getting given away at something that probably is pretty darn close to "cost" and Amazon might even be taking a loss selling these machines at this price. But it is better to move them now to unsuspecting buyers than waiting a couple of weeks for the M4 MBA and Apple Intelligence features to drop. The combo is going to be rough for the 8gb crowd.

Europe “never” gets deals, but I’ve been keeping my eye on the M3 15” prices and even here the entry level one has been dropped from >2300 USD to <2100 in the last 1-2 weeks. Big drops like these have only happened in previous years right before the announcement of new models. As if stores can suddenly all and for “reasons unknown” get a price drop from Apple themselves because the drop in price is bigger than the profit margin otherwise would have been.

Cheapest way to buy a MacBook is to fly to NYC with a ticket deal and pick one up there. Just leave the box behind and stick it in the laptop part of a backpack so customs won’t have a reason to ask where you got it.
Of course this route is not an option for most people, so just put a price alert on the price checker website in your country to get an email when the price has become acceptable for you.
I myself am planning on going on a “free” vacation to Boston when the MBA gets a new display. Can fly there, get a hotel, buy a MacBook including the sales tax, go see some cool American Revolutionary War places I know from Fallout 4, eat some food that’s probably going to give me a heart attack and fly back for the same price as just getting the same MacBook in Norway would cost :p
Provided they don’t fail the upcoming election, though.

It’s already been confirmed that there is no event, they are releasing the m4 Macs next week via a press release. Several articles on the main page here about it.
