Well I am finally looking to transition from my CRT to an LCD monitor. Though I love the quality of my screen and clear presentation of multiple resolutions I want HDTV support and to concetrate my rooms tube TV and CRT Monitor into one slim unit.
However I am looking for input for the best aspect ratio to get either 16:9 or 16:10 for the gaming rig in my sig.
I will be getting a monitor with both DVI and HDMI inputs as it will also be connected to my Comcast HD cable box.
Anyways I am interested in getting a 1920x1080 monitor for proper HD movie support. Though I am hesitant since I do not know how many new and older games support the 16:9 aspect ratio. I know computers have worked with connecting to HDTV's for several years however I have no idea as to how many publishers support that since Widescreen computer screens were 16:10.
Gamers what do you think would a 1920x1080 monitor or 1920x1200 be the best bet for a gaming screen? Though I would like HDTV and movies without black bars on the top and bottom (which would be worse with Academy format films), computer games are of primary importance.
Yea I know the Radeon HD3850 is pretty weak but I will update to a 4850/4870 when Sims 3 is released. My most recent game is Medieval 2 Total War.
