Hi guys!

I have a coworker at work who just purchased a Macbook Pro. He absolutely loves it!
He is definitely getting the hang of it, but he still has a lot to learn and discover. I sat down with him for 2 hours teaching him the basics which he got down pretty well.

He requested for me to find two books/guides for him so he can personally learn more himself:

- One about how to use Snow Leopard
- Another about how to use Office 2008 for Mac

He would like something that is easy to follow and visual so he can get the hang of what he is doing.
He also stated that if the book comes with a CD of some sort for tutorials, he said that would be an added plus.

Do any of you have some nice recommendations so I can head off to Amazon or Barnes and Noble to get him these two things?

Thanks a bunch for your help! :)

No books needed, Google is his friend, just tell them to do a search when they come across a problem.

I like printed books too, like your friend. Not sure if versions are out yet for SL, but the "Dummies" and "Missing Manual" books are both good. I bought the former for the OS and the later for Office 2004. Surely there is one for Office 2008.

"Missing Manual" books go more in-depth. The "Dummies" books are good "get acquainted" volumes.

Scratch my last comment, as the poster above mentioned, I think 'Dummies' books are awesome!

For things in the OS I like video better then books and there is a lot out there and if he wants visual it doesn’t get move visual than that. Apple has a lot of howto videos on their sites for OS X, iLife, and iWork

There is also screencasts online which has a mix of free shows and a subscription for more stuff. Here is the New to Mac page with links to a lot of shows that are helpful for new Mac users

Apple also has this site which goes over a lot of things, not video, but more like a book online

Lots of information for him to go over without having to go to the bookstore
