Near a Mac since 1993.
Currently I have a 36GB Raptor as my boot drive, but I'm running out of room. So getting a new boot drive is the plan.

For years I've always had a Data Drive and a boot drive. The data drive is just a larger (or separate) drive that I keep all my MP3's, photos, etc. The boot drive is just a faster drive for the OS and Apps. This makes upgrades easier. (I think)

I've been reading about drives as a boot drive and the MaxLine III 300GB from Maxtor seems to be a popular choice, and very fast for 7200RPM.

I'd love to stick with a Raptor, but for (more than) the price of the MaxLine III I can only get a 74GB Raptor. Im afraid I'll run into the same dilemma in the future.

Also, someone told me they read that SATA drives loose alot of performance once they pass 50% capacity. In that case a 74GB raptor will suffer in short order.

Does anyone where this article is?

What are your suggestions?

Thanks!
