Hey guys. I bought an iBook g3 on eBay for $65. It has 256 mb of ram. I was looking up options for browsers, and noticed that TenFourFox needs 512 mb! Will it still work?

Any other browser suggestions? Is safari a good browser on OS Tiger?

What browser do you reccommend, or which do you use?

Thanks! I'm new to the power pc's, I'm real excited :)

Camino is pretty fast on Power PC's. Ten Four Fox is nice, but for all out speed, try Camino. There are G3 optimized versions of both.

Once you open Camino go to the preferences and Web Features, then Block Web Advertising and Block Flash. It makes it even faster. You can also disable Java Script.

UPDATE: I forgot that the optimized versions are hosted on File Factory, which is a pain in the rear.

There is the non-cpu-optimized version at the Camino website here:

Nope, Safari on Tiger is outdated imho. With 256MB ram, I would also use Camino.

I (second? third? fourth?) Camino. If I remember, it has ad-blocking built in. Plus it's still updated regularly and works well on G3s.

I just got it, and Safari doesn't seem bad at all. It has pretty decent speeds.

I also downloaded Camino, but I just don't like the look of it as much as Safari. It pretty much has the same speeds as Safari, at least for what I do.

I know there are GPU optimized versions of Camino, but I downloaded mine from the Camono Website, so its not GPU optimized. Should I go look for a GPU optimized version for my G3, or is the one from the website (which works fine) good enough? Would the version for G3 have and significant advantages?

If not, I think I may just stick with Safari.
