I'm looking to order a 15" MBP and an external USB-C display. I'm just learning about wattage differences via USB-C and I'm hoping to find out which monitors in the $400 range are able to charge a 15" inch MacBook Pro and provide display signal over a single cable.

I see that the Philips 258B6QUEB has 60W PD. Is that sufficient for a 15" MB? What happens when you connect a display with this level of power delivery?

That Philips monitor also has an ethernet port, so it looks like a decent option as a dock/monitor combo.

I've also looked at the Samsung S24H851QFN...

What is everyone else experiencing with this?

60W will definitely charge your MacBook Pro 15", although it will be slower than using the included charger, and it may not charge at all if you are doing really heavy tasks on your laptop.

What I currently use, however, is a solution where I have a Dell U2518D and a VAVA USB-C dock, which includes USB-PD passthrough, which means you can also just use one cable to connect to your MBP, with the dock itself connecting to the monitor using HDMI. You also get 3x USB ports, Ethernet, SD, and MicroSD card slots as well. Personally, I think the dock itself is a good alternative to those models of monitors (as it's more flexible in my opinion), and I would wholeheartedly recommend the U2518D, even if it is not a true USB-C monitor.

The Philips looks like the better of the two (similar specifications to the Dell) but I've read reviews that say it's unreliable and the menu system is not very good, which I can't say about the Dell.
