I received an advert in the mail today from best buy showing a Mac mini 1.42 for 499.00.

Also you get a $25 gift card.

I wonder if you could pull off this price?

I.

I know I could get away with it too. Now if I had $500.00 for a new Mac today I would do it.

The mailer is very interesting it's titled "get schooled in technology" and is 100% Mac and iPod related. You receive $10 for an ipod , 25 for a mini.

Is it the "old" version of the 1.42? The price seems to indicate it only has 256MB and no BT or AE...For someone who doesn't need those extras, the price is about right.

Frys advertised a G5 for $99 once, but they didn't accept that price because the newspaper mis-printed it. If that price newspaper's goof-up, it will hold no water at Best Buy.

The price is 499 for this model:

Apple Mac mini M9687LL/A (G4 1.42 GHz, 256 MB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Drive)

It is the older model mini. Still not a bad price/

Correct. I just looked at the serial number. The is not the weekly news paper ad. It was sent out by mail printed for BB.

I dont have a scanner and the only digital camera I have is my mini DV cam with still shots.

Perhaps someone else has the same ad?

I think it's an ok deal.

I.

I would jump on that deal!

I've been thinking of getting a cheap mini. I have some BB gift certs that I've been holding onto. I'd jump on that deal if I had that ad.

Sounds to me like you don't need the ad...Best Buy is just selling the old 1.42's they have in stock for a little cheaper because who would pay the same for the old ones as the new one that has more ram and airport and bt?

I found my ad. Here's the pics.

I think they are just clearing out the old models.

In any event, there is a disclaimer on Best Buy ads that say "not responsible for misprints..." or something to that effect.
