Best Buy today launched a new Apple sale that will last for the rest of the week, this time focusing on the latest 2017 MacBook Air models and the 2015 iPad mini 4. In the sale, select MacBook Air configurations have been discounted by $150-$250 (with an additional $50 off if you're a college student or parent of a K-12 or college student), while the Wi-Fi iPad mini 4 is discounted by $100 across the board and cellular options are marked down by up to $200 with a contract on select carriers.

The MacBook Air models on sale
show
include both of the basic configurations sold on Apple.com, coming in $50-$100 below rival third-party retailers with some of the cheapest prices currently available online for the 2017 notebooks. The third model on sale is a higher-end configuration with boosted processor speeds and hard drive capacity. If you're a student or parent of a student you can save an extra $50 on all models.

Apple is said to be preparing a new entry-level notebook, but the latest rumors indicate it isn't ready to debut at this week's event, so if you're in the market for a MacBook Air now, this is a good opportunity to buy.

For the iPad mini 4, Best Buy's prices are now $50-$100 cheaper
show
than other retailers. The last update to the iPad mini came in the form of a price drop for the 128GB storage tier in March 2017 -- now the only storage capacity available to purchase in new condition. One year later, there are still no signs of a more substantial update for the iPad mini, so if Apple plans to discontinue the 7.9-inch tablet completely at some point, the iPad mini 4 is your best option if you like the size.

I wonder if the 2 new rumored ipads will be Mini’s with thinner bezels that allow for a slightly larger screen.

Something like a 8.5 - 9” screen. Then they just let the 9.7” die off.

That 1.4 ghz Mac Mini sure is looking fine. I'm gunna go out & buy one today -ha!
(I wonder if anyone would buy one for $9 at this point). The thing is practically unusable.

Pretty much! How old as those iPad minis?

Those were untouched since 2015. Both tech and price wise. What's worse are the airs. They were outdated and over priced when they were originally released. At this point, used machines are un-sellable, and new ones should have been put on clearance at 50% off last year!

Wow, a device which has frame drops throughout the operating system is considered a powerhouse... Unreal.

I feel like that’s more an iOS 11 issue.
Besides, it still runs everything in the App Store, and well enough that most users won’t have any complaints. Apple may charge a bit much for it, but it’s still a pretty good tablet for most people’s needs. Not really any better 8” options at this point either.

My iPad mini is on iOS 10, and it’s still smooth. After what happened to my iPhone 6, I am absolutely certain iOS 11 will make it frustrating to use. These sales are pretty common at Best Buy, and every time we speculate if they are clearing inventory for updated devices, but no such luck.

I have read many of your anecdotal complaints before about the Mini on this forum. You don’t share everybody else’s experience with the iPad mini, everybody’s usage will vary.
I’ve even been to the Apple Store and had massive drops on their iPad, have a photo to prove it (at HomePod launch = recent)

I never questioned anything about the frame drops, I stated that everybody has different experiences and it will vary. Two different things that are not mutually exclusive.

Micro Center is selling the same base spec MacBook Air for $749.
The local one is just across the street from Best Buy.

Are people actually paying that much for a notebook with THAT screen in 2018? Even the cheapest bottom of the barrel Chromebook has a nicer screen nowadays.
