Apple today announced the newest models of the MacBook Air, which include the M3 chip and come in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes. Just a few hours later, Best Buy now has the first notable discounts on these computers exclusively for My Best Buy Plus or My Best Buy Total members.

If you're a Plus/Total member, you can get $50 off both the 13-inch and 15-inch M3 MacBook Air. My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total begins at $49.99/year, so these new MacBook Air discounts will only make sense for people who already have paid for the service.

Note: Discounts available only to My Best Buy Plus/Total members.

With these discounts, the 256GB 13-inch M3 MacBook Air is available from $1,049.00 and the 256GB 15-inch M3 MacBook Air is available from $1,249.00. You'll find every new MacBook Air model on sale with Best Buy's exclusive $50 discounts, including those with increased RAM.

If you're willing to invest in a previous generation model, you can also find the 13-inch M1 MacBook Air on sale at Best Buy. We covered this deal earlier today, and it's a good option for anyone willing to sacrifice the internal upgrades of the M3 chip for a much lower price tag of $749.99.

Wait a few weeks and Amazon can provide you with even a better price.

Now that the 512/16GB is one of the three standard versions to buy directly (no BTO), this model becomes more attractive as some retailers will offer it with discounts (that we rarely see here on Europe, anyways). It will be easier to recommend this option for many users who don’t fall into the “basic usage” category.

By the way, I’m really curious to see the speeds of those SSDs, because if Apple started using QLC SSDs, we should notice a change (for worse, both in speeds and especially lifespan). If speed is still the same, then it is likely Apple is still using the same NAND as always.

$50

Well, it's money. I'm a member. I'll take it (when I buy one, which is not going to happen).
The membership has lots of perks. I like it.

Not something I'm going to get having a M2 version. The new iPad, on the other hand...

Expecting to see discounts without any membership within the next 2 to 3 months.

It is great to see that 16 GB is now one of the 3 base models. Can't wait for Costco to offer a discount on that model.

No. It depends on how much business you do there. There are all types of perks. It's not a scam, but designed to get your business and lock you in. They do this by making it worth your while.
What you said sounds pretty much like the description of a scam.

"I just saved $10 on paper towels at Costco!"

"But a Costco membership is $60. You got ripped off!"
Assuming I am interpreting your comment correctly, you are comparing apples to oranges my friend.

How many purchases will you make at Costco in a year? What is the average amount you spend each time you visit Costco? Let's compare that to answers for the same questions if we swap out Costco for Best Buy.

That was the point of my post. Obviously it doesn't make sense to buy a Best Buy membership for just an item or two.
