I miss the days when we could see deals from other companies, I get that there is a partnership with Best Buy, but there has been no other mention of anyone else this holiday season, and buying a membership for a "deal" isn't always the best deal out there.

I will probably never shop at Best Buy for anything large again. I used to be totally in their corner and bought major appliances, big TV's, tons of home theater equipment like surround speakers etc. Spent thousands every year. I loved their Elite and Elite Plus membership rewards where we got same day delivery, longer return window and points banking...

Then out of nowhere they completely deleted the program, even though I had earned it, Elite Plus, by spending lots of hard earned money at their stores. Now they want to try and copy Costco with their even more expensive membership program? Hell no. I feel very burned by what they did to their most loyal customers. They can go bankrupt for all I care now. Don't screw your customers!!

There have been plenty of mentions on here about companies besides Best Buy this holiday season including Apple, Samsung, Amazon, Anker, B&H Photo, Sonos, Walmart, and others.

Oh man! I *NEED* a hair dryer for $400 right away!! Up until now I was just flushing my money down the toilet.
I’ve never understood why Dyson stuff is so expensive. Their profit margins must make even Apple jealous, because, whenever I see the price for a Dyson product, I think “man, that would be oddly expensive for what you get at half the price”.

Best Buy is overpriced and unfriendly so much that I wish that they fail like Circuit City.
Companies for sure have a shelf life. What we don’t want is less competition - but that seems to be the trend. We are largely forced to pick from only big players now for almost everything tech. And consumers seem largely ok with / blind to this.

Best Buy will likely get taken over by Amazon down the road, and their stores rebranded as such.

Best Buy had the M3 Pro MacBook Pro for $1850 on Black Friday and and extra $50 off if you bought the membership for $50. I instead bought the MBP as an "Open-Box Excellent" for $1750 (Bought AppleCare anyway... so it's all good)

I doubt Amazon, in part because I doubt Amazon wants to take on that many physical retail locations. Oh sure, they own Whole Foods, but there are far fewer Whole Foods locations, and Whole Foods is complementary to Amazon’s model (it helps them deliver perishable foods and keeps people/spending on platform instead of going to alternatives like Instacart, and it sells things that, with the exception of Amazon Fresh*, isn’t available on Amazon). Best Buy has expensive retail rents and a product Amazon could sell for cheaper, plus Amazon likely isn’t interested in GeekSquad or live, in-person customer support in general.

While I do think Best Buy getting bought out eventually is fairly likely, I don’t think it’ll be Amazon. I’d guess Target or WalMart would be more likely, but they’d probably continue to operate it as Best Buy (maybe Best Buy by Target or similar branding). Plus (especially if WalMart), they’d probably operate a store-within-a-store concept where, especially in smaller markets, they might brand the electronics sections Best Buy @ WalMart. (Plus, there are Best Buy locations in most cities that deliberately keep WalMart at bay, which is many of the largest urban markets, so it could be a way for WalMart to expand their presence into NYC or Chicago, both cities that single out WalMart for exclusion.)

* And I’m pretty sure Whole Foods ties in with Amazon Fresh, making them even more complimentary.

Walmart and Target would have no interest or need to buy BestBuy. I too doubt Amazon would buy them, but this would give them mass distribution channel and "show rooming" ability for people to see and try products first so they don't ship them back (which kills Amazons margins). Though, most of use showroom best buy before biying said product on Amazon.

If Best Buy falls, that's basically the end of the big box electronics retailers. If anything, Lowe's and Home Depot might invest in some of those categories, but Wal and Target are already there as is any decent big box player - the few that still exist. With Frye's dead - there isn't anyone else really.

While disappointed, compared to the alternative Best Buy is still best for me and my needs, especially with warranties. I was pissed as an Elite Plus member but it forced, persuaded me to get the Best Buy credit card which lets you continue banking points.
Sears died
Brandsmart is hell to deal with. Homedepot and Lowes dont carry the same electronics and they are more in the home building side. Costco just has two year warranties so they are a no no for me.

Disappointed does not truly cover my feelings on it. I won't rehash what I already posted, that pretty much says my thoughts on it. I will just say I've never felt more burned or snookered by a company before in my entire life. I'm still mad about it. BB can die for all I care now. It's like when someone in your life completely betrays an agreement you had with them - you don't just take it and say "Well I can't do any better in my life." Hell no
