Best Buy is discounting a collection of M3 MacBook Pro computers today, this time focusing on the 14-inch version of the laptop. Every deal in this sale requires you to have a My Best Buy Plus or Total membership, although non-members can still get solid second-best prices on these MacBook Pro models.

Only M3 models are being discounted to notable all-time low prices during this sale, although the higher-end M3 Pro and M3 Max MacBook Pros are seeing a few second-best prices. In terms of the 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro, there are three total models on sale right now at Best Buy. The cheapest model is the 512GB M3 model at $1,399.00, down from $1,599.00.

Note: My Best Buy Plus/Total membership required to see final deal price.

For anyone who doesn't have My Best Buy Plus or Total, you can still get $150 off the 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro. These MacBook Pro models launched last October, featuring mini-LED displays, MagSafe fast charging, Wi-Fi 6E, a six-speaker sound system, and more.

I think Apple knew this was very iterative and super happy with my M1 and M2 MBPs. The M4 will be nice with AI improvements, but again, till OLED arrives and FaceID on the Mac, I think I'm more than happy with the performance.

I think waiting unless you really need something till fall is the way to do it. And membership at Best Buy wasn't very "valuable" when I had it. I'm sure some find benefit, but BB just didn't care in my area or on the outsourced 800 number when I needed help. Saw a great meme, Best Buy, where you go to try it before buying on Amazon. LOL. Kinda true.

Given that it’s a $200 discount, plus the cost of $50 for anyone who doesn’t already have the membership, that’s not too bad all things considered, still $150 savings even if you cancel the membership a year later. And you’d still have the benefit of the membership for other things for at least a year on top of it.

I'm pretty tempted to get this... but then, the M4 MacBook Pro is probably coming out later this year, so it's quite a dilemma. 😔

Buy it if you need it. I need a more portable laptop that I can take with me on international trips so I’ll buy soon. Also, you can always check the Apple Refurbished site for deals….

8GB of RAM is good on an Apple Silicon MacBook. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea what they are talking about. For the vast majority of people buying computers, they won't suffer any slowdown on 8GB. I even went through a list of the AAA games on Mac, and most of them use around 4GB-6GB, the ones that pushed RAM the most used 7GB. There wasn't one game I could find that could push past 8GB total system usage during game play on the APUs that offer 8GB builds....

That being said... Apple was out of their mind to think anyone was going to buy a $1800 Pro device with 8GB RAM. For the people spending that money on a laptop, they need the RAM. They will use the RAM. 8GB is simply unacceptable. $1800 is not for the average consumer to play around on the web and do lite photo and video editing. Spend $1800 on a laptop and you have a mission in mind.

No wonder this is already $200 off. What are you possibly doing that demands 1TB onboard storage, but only 8GB RAM? Media editors keep their media on external drives after the edit. Same with people pirating movies or people with large home movie collections. This spec is absolutely useless.

And then the M5 MacBook Pro will be on the near horizon as well. You can't think like this when it comes to consumer tech, or else you'll never buy or be satisfied with anything. If you need it, get it. If not, don't.

If you do wait for M5, remember, the M6 will be out after that. So if you need the power, wait a few years and then pull the trigger on buying M6.

Best Buy had the M3 Pro MBP with 18GB of RAM and 512GB of storage on sale for $1799 for a while, that seems like a better deal then the M3 with 16GB of RAM for the same price, and I bet that deal on the M3 Pro will cycle around again at the rate they're discounting these laptops.

This sale ($200 off the 16GB unit) largely solves the complaints seen in the other mega thread about 8GB being too little and people (rightly) annoyed at being charged $200 to upgrade from 8Gb to 16GB.

Sure, until you remember the regular price of the MBA M3 16 GB/512 GB is $1499.

The MBP M3 has some perks over it (the full 1 TB of storage and better screen), but it's still a tough sell.

18GB / 512 M3 for $1599 should be the minimum for the Pro models

The Air 16GB / 512 should be $1250-$1300.

8GB of ram should be illegal outside of a cell phone these days.
There are laptops produced with 2GB only… Some are 4GB.
8GB is just fine. What can't you do with the 8GB of RAM? For a casual user, it's fine too.
It's not as bad as 64MB of RAM on iBook G3.

8GB of RAM is even enough on my Windows 10 work PC tbh. Never had an issue with either.

MacOS uses up a good chunk of that 8GB right from the start. If you quit every running process and open app before running a game that requires 6GB you might squeak by with okay performance, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
