So someone was telling me to get the iphone 4S and then I could get the iPhone 5 when it comes out at a discounted price even though I'm not eligible to extend a contract. What's the deal with this?

For the Best Buy program, the original phone must have been purchase at Best Buy. On trade in, they will give you an option of straight cash or BB gift card. Right now my iPhone 4 16 gig is worth ~$180 for the cash and ~$270 if I choose the gift cards.

The buy back also has nothing to do with the carrier subsidized pricing, so if you recently purchased a 4S, you'll have to pay the full price for the iPhone "5"

The Best Buy program is a ripoff when it comes to Apple products. You can easily sell for more by yoursel since they retain a high resale value.

Ok thanks. Yeah, wasn't too familiar with it, but I'll pick up the 4S through my carrier.
