Today and tomorrow only, Best Buy has $200 off all retina MacBook Pros. The student coupon of $100 off on top of that also works.

Is it now worth getting the 13" base rMBP for $1199.99? Or better to still wait for the Haswell version? Thanks!

Its worth it if you need a laptop. Your question is subjective, though the sale does look very good. you're saving money and its a good deal price wise

I am toying with this, largely because with that kind of savings, I can probably sell it on ebay even if I wanted to upgrade later in the year for close to what was paid.

Def. a good deal.

I couldn't help myself!

FYI - I just bought a "Clearance" (i.e. in-store pickup only) MC976LL/A (Mid-2012 rMBP/512 GB/8 GB) on the Best Buy site for $1,499.99 - $1,000 off :D

WOW!!! What state/city BB was this???

anyone picked any of these up? I see one about an hour from me, but i feel like its goign to be gone by the time i get there..

also they dont appear to be standard builds for some reason eh?

If I were you, I would just wait until the new Retina Macbook Pro's get released (which is currently rumored to be in October). Not because it's going to be a worthwhile upgrade, but solely for the reason that the rMBP that you buy now will inevitable drop in value by at least $200 when the new one comes out. So basically the question comes down to whether or not 2 months of your time is worth $200.

It's not $200. That model as a refurb is $2019 right now. So drop $200 and it's still a good deal if you can get it.

+1 if you're lucky, you can find the 2012 models 2.6/8/512 for 1499 and the 2.3/8/256 for 1259. The lowest price those are selling anywhere else is about 2000 and 1800 or so for the base model. They're still AWESOME deals on brand new machines

bought mine with 256 gb and 2.5 ghz for 1470 taxes included.... so it seems a bad deal to me :)

The 13"? The ME662LL/A with the $100 student discount now comes to $1399 pre-tax.

You should wait, if you have the choice. The increase in battery life for Haswell is worth it alone. All machines from here on out will have that, so why settle for last-gen technology? Seems silly. Plus you'd probably be getting the PCIe SSDs and 802.11ac wifi too. Why buy a 1 year old machine, brand new or not? Unless you NEED it right away. And if it comes to reselling, specs aside, a 2013 machine is still newer than a 2012, no matter how you look at it-- buyers will know that.

I know but I am no longer a student and bought it 1 month ago cause I needed it for work (had a failure on the previous mac)

Not sure if serious or joking... The 1499 and 1259 are both 15" too which is an amazing deal lol

But for OP: if the 15" is too much machine and you're set on the 13", I'd wait. the upgrade to Haswell will have a much larger effect on the 13" vs the 15"

Wait, a 15" rMBP for $1259? Where the hell is this steal of a deal?!?!?!

All I know is I won't be able to get to a best buy with one in stock on their online store until tomorrow and one of you all better not pick it up before I can lol

WOW! I saw the same earlier in the thread for $1499. But $1259? I'd be willing to lug that size around for that price! :) Too bad none found so far in the Chicago area.

They are for 2 different models - the $1260 deal ($840 off MSRP) was for the 2.3 GHz/256 GB SSD model and the $1500 deal ($1000 off MSRP) was for the 2.6 GHz/512 GB SSD model.

When you go to the page in the URL, type your store location number (located in the loc= in the url) and it will take you for in store pickup for your store. I did it with mine for the $1499 model. :D won't get a chance like this again. Haswell? What haswell? Lol.

I just hope I get the Samsung screen or else I'll just return/exchange it if they still have it in stock.

nah haswell isnt THAT much of a difference, besides, macbooks usually only get an update around wwdc so now would be a perfect time to buy, as the next major update to macbook pros would be next july
