I was just being nosy on Best Buy website. Why would Best Buy be charging LESS for the M3 than the M2? Is the M2 better or is the M3 not selling well?

Inventory levels perhaps. A lot of M3's are sitting in the warehouse and with the impending arrival of the M4, Best Buy wants to move the inventory.

Interesting. Was the M3 ONLY a CPU bump? Hard to see how that would drive demand for upgrades. Whereas the MBA M1 and M2 had significant physical differences.

I wouldn't read too much into it. It's just a sale and will eventually go back to its regular $1099 price. Sales often have deals like this...they don't need to keep every single model priced in line with each other at all times.

Someone on these forums (I can't recall who) said that the fabrication process for M3 is more difficult than that for M2, so they thought Apple might keep the M2 as the step down model from the M4 instead of the M3 and clear out their M3 inventory. Sounds reasonable if it's true.

How much usually changes from year to year with laptops? No company is expecting their customers to replace their computer every year. Apple is still mainly targeting users users with Intel Macs. Most people with even M1 Macs still don't need an upgrade at this point.
