Apple's M2 15-inch MacBook Air has returned to an all-time low price today at Best Buy, starting at $999.00 for the 256GB model. You can get this deal in all four color options, and you don't need a My Best Buy Plus/Total membership to see this deal.

The notebooks have an estimated delivery between February 5 and February 8, although those dates could change depending on your location. This is a match of the record low price on the 15-inch MacBook Air, and it's a deal we haven't tracked since the holiday season.

For more storage, Best Buy has the 512GB 15-inch M2 MacBook Air for $1,199.00, down from $1,499.00. At $300 off, this is the best price we've ever seen on this model of the MacBook Air, and it's available in all colors as well.

Keep up with all of this week's best discounts on Apple products and related accessories in our dedicated Apple Deals roundup.

Update: This article originally highlighted deals from Amazon on the MacBook Air, but those sales quickly expired. All links have been replaced with Best Buy links, which should have more stock on the notebooks.

I don't need one, but because I wanted there to be a 15" MBA for so long (and finally gave up waiting) I'm seriously tempted at this price. I'm sure a family member or friend would appreciate being gifted my XPS 9510 ;)

That's what I'm waiting to see, I hope so! I just need a cheap MBA as a travel rig but want the new design with magsafe etc.

Why would they 'fix' (SSD speed) what they don't consider broken? Not to be a doubter, but Apple is not stupid. The SSD speed was not a mistake. They either didn't consider the speed difference to be an issue (valid point for most applications sorry) or thought it was a clever marketing gimmick to get people to upgrade to 512 (which many did). Or both. most likely both. win win for Apple. I predict no change.

If it's important to you, and you dont want to spend the upgrade charge, I would consider strongly the M2 512 on sale now for $300 off. But honestly, for most applications this is just another click bait crisis. Don't forget it wasn't that long ago that most people survived with speeds 10 x (or more) slower.

Yes, I know, these days apple uses storage as ram, but still. For most real world applications it just doesnt matter.

Is there a way to use two external monitors with this MBA? I'm OK with it requiring an external device of some kind, but can it handle it? Does it do it well? I've been hanging onto my 2016 MBP w/ crap butterfly keyboard and touchbar for forever just bc it has 4 USB C.

edit. Oh well doesnt matter. Sold out.

Not natively. You'll need a USB DisplayLink adapter for the second.

Apple has the "Air" line at a lower price point and thus fewer "features" such as no multi monitor support. There is less memory support (24GB max) with a slower memory bus (100Gb per second) and fewer SSD size choices. (max 2TB).

The max spec 15" MBA lists for $2,499. The 14" MBPro with the same specs is $2,599 list. A $100 buys a better screen and more ports. Choices, choices.

But you need a microscope to look at the 14" screen :)

At $300 off, this is the best price we've ever seen on this model of the MacBook Air

In fact, we all saw this low price back in October and November!

See

and

While that $300 off price was for BB+ members and $50 more for the general public — Best Buy was offering the membership for only $1 at that point! A great deal and the same low price as now.

Realistically, what would anyone do with an M3 macbook Air compared to an M2 Air? There is literally no benefit other than maybe a slight battery life gain… but that would have to be tested.

The real value proposition would be an M2 with 16 GB RAM base model. If they went for a device upgrade on every other processor for Macbooks Airs and Macbook Pros… it would be cheaper to service those on Apple Care and the devices would last longer and feed into their supposedly green/environmental targets…

I would prefer more significant upgrades every two years over smaller iterative upgrades every year. Then they can focus on just bringing some really nice changes and have more time to refine and ensure reliability etc.

Id pay slightly more for that kind of focus.
