Just saw on Facebook that Best Buy will indeed be taking iPhone 5 pre-orders tomorrow. There weren't any other detail besides that, i'm curious if there'll be a $50 deposit for placing a pre-order, that's how it worked in 2010 when I upgraded to the 4 there.
 
I'm sure people have had positive experiences, but I can't imagine pre-ordering with Best Buy when Apple and Carriers are options.
 
Bestbuy doesn't do online preorders. They're always in-store preorders with pickup in-store.

I think I'll stick with Apple. The only reason I was leaning toward BB was for the trade in program. I guess I could always use store credit to BB though. :)

I did buy my wife's iPad 2 when it was released but didn't pre-order.

How is the pre-order timing with them? As I understand the pre-order has to be made at the store tomorrow.
But what happens afterwards?
I have to pick it up on release day?
Or they ship? Will I get it on release day? Or will I have to wait some days?

Just decided to make an account after watching these threads.

I preordered my iPhone 4S from Best Buy last year the first day preorders were available. I was the first customer in the store to preorder. They promised me that it would be there on launch day. I walked into the store on launch day and they told me that they didn't receive mine. The store said that they didn't receive any and none of the other stores within 50 miles received any. I decided to wait a couple of weeks for them to get some in stock. They never did and I finally cancelled my order and walked in to Verizon to purchase one. I will never preorder an iPhone from them again.

I did order two today. I will see what happens.
They will not have an easy day with me, if they don't give them to me on launch day.
 
Well they don't have any available, and they don't have a clue when they will fulfill my order.
I pre-ordered 2 64GB for AT&T.
All I got is -$100 in my bank account, and a useless email from a Best Buy VP.
Why they take pre-orders if they cannot fulfill them?
Very mediocre business practices.
I think they will go bankrupt like Circuit City did.
 
Unless you have some sort of gift card/coupon/credit, I can't imagine why you'd ever buy anything from Best Buy. They are scam artists and cockroaches.

Well I did this time because I wanted to use the zero interest credit.
So far they have my $100 and I have a useless email.

Anyone getting their pre-order from Best Buy?
 
Pre Ordered on 9/14 at 9:20am 64gb white att and I havent gotten anything update....

I pre ordered a 16GB White Verzion one beginning of the morning on 9/14 and haven't heard anything...
 
I called them today, their typical answer: we have none in stock, no one has them, we will get them in the next shipment, we don't know when it is going to happen, we will be more than happy to give you your money back.

Finally Today I received an email update for one of the two orders, telling me to go to the store and pick it up.
Well it was for the second order, the White 64GB.
After they acknowledge that I was there, they made me wait for more than one hour and a half in the store.
Very limited models of iPhone cases, all hard shell type, and some Otterbox models also with hard shell.
After the long wait I have to wait more for them to process the contract renewal and set the phone number in the iPhone 5.

To avoid the same frustration I had waiting, call them before going to the store and ask for an appointment, to see if they take care of your order quicker than mine.

Anyway, the first order is still in unknown status, today was the first shipment they got since launch day.

WORST BUY...doesn't listen to their customers.
 
Just Got Mine!

Pre-ordered on 9/15. White 16GB ATT. Just received email saying it is in.
 
Yesterday I received the first order. Pick it up.

I am still receiving emails from Best Buy asking me to go and pick it up. Their system is a mess.

Also got some SMS from AT&T asking for feedback of buying through Best Buy. They got my messages.
