Hi everyone - is it possible to upgrade the SSD of a rMBP if you buy it from other stores like Best Buy or NFM? Or are these options only available if you buy directly from Apple?

Thanks!

You're limited to what they have in stock. They might have some options, but there's a good chance they won't have what you're looking for.

Apple generally offers two SKUs of their notebooks at retail. They match the specs of the ones on the Apple Store website without adding RAM or making any changes. Many retailers will carry both of them. If you want something off-the-wall like a 768GB SSD, you would need to order it directly from Apple and customize it during the order process.
