I don't think it's worth it if for $100 more you can get a current-gen MacBook. I think it would attract those who are trying to save the most they can and just need a computer and could care less of the hardware differences.
not bad though, but you can get the $50 off the new ones with education discount which makes it a nice deal. But if they let you take $50 off the 899 then same difference haha =)

Yeah, for $100 more you could get the new Macbook without firewire. Or, you could get the same machine that BestBuy is offering from the refurbished Apple store for $50 less, when it pops up. Or for $100 more you could get the last generation 13" Macbook Pro from the refurbished store, with firewire, backlit keyboard, etc.
All depends on what you want.
