So I got an iPhone X yesterday because my Bes Buy is closed today. Any way I can get the promo retroactively?

Wow.. the margins on that iMac Pro must be juicy dripping fat for BBUY to be able to knock off a $1000 and yet, leave enough money on the table for Apple, Apple Marketing and BBUY.
Not necessarily. Once the inventory is paid for, it’s essentially all profit. Likely means BB has a warehouse full of them and needs to liquidate some.

You have members from various countries, and BestBuy abut is an international retailer. I’ve gotta open then article and read up to “AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint” to see its USA.

Usually the retailer(best buy) asks for half of the profit on the product, so they can afford a store and discounts.

Wow, what temptation on the Pro. I’ve been thinking of getting a heavily upgraded new iMac, which easily pushes $3500. That’s a crazy discount.

I thought about getting a MacBook Pro, but isn’t an upgrade only like 2 months away?

What bothers me about all MacBooks is that none of them come with 32 GB RAM configuration. And nearly all competitors do.

The entry level iMac Pro is about 35 percent faster than the TOTL iMac for multi-core tasks(Geekbench) but slower for single-core. You can buy the equivalent TOTL iMac for $3099 and upgrade the memory to 32GB for about another $315 including shipping using after market. So $3999+ local SST(8.8% in my area) = $4351 vs $4014. So the iMac Pro sale price looks to be a fairly decent deal even in a state with a high sales tax IF you use apps that take advantage of multi-core processing.

Simple. Unless it says otherwise it’s US. It’s not macrumors.co.uk or macrumors.tw

It's also possible that Apple is offering a rebate to retailers for the sale. This allows Apple to move inventory through third-party sellers while allowing Apple to maintain premium pricing online and in-stores.

damn... I want an iMac Pro... so tempting. But so not rich enough for one.

Same, I'd love one but I could never justify having a computer that expensive when the most intensive things I do are play WoW and edit pics lol.

Micro Center has been selling the base configuration for $3999 in stores, not online, for several months now. I can’t believe they have that many to liquidate.

Beware about buying “unlocked” iPhones from Best Buy. The iPhone will be locked to the SIM card carrier used for first activation.

Activate with a Verizon SIM card since Verizon doesn’t lock their phones.

Learned this lesson the hard way!

Well, Best Buy doesn’t actually sell unlocked iPhones.

Insert a Verizon sim first and it will be unlocked.

If Apple is offering a rebate, that is a reduced margin for Apple. Now Best Buy maybe "sharing" some of that margin hit, but I think its highly unlikely that Apple (or any OEM of size) lets a retailer run with 20% margins to give away. This has to be coming out of Apple's take.

Exactly they would have a big problem getting products in the future if they undercut apples retail price like that. This sale is coordinated with Apple. And usually Apple will make the price with such offerings not the retailer. I couldn’t tell you the real margins on such an iMac when it comes to big retailers. For low volume no name dealerships it goes below 10% here in Austria.
The big ones may sell with similar margins but have things like advertising costs subsidy, shelf space and slotting fees going for them so margins for individual products don’t really matter.

They aren't unlocked and they should never be sold as such. The "universal" listing means they can stock 1 set of skus and activate under any carrier. The locking is required by your carrier, and Best Buy as a partner has to comply. If an employee sold it to you as unlocked, then that employee is to blame. The Verizon workaround you mentioned has changed: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/verizon-no-longer-plans-to-sell-unlocked-iphones.2105757

FWIW Amazon has matched the iMac Pro pricing, at least for now. The listing shows Apple as the seller. I was going to buy from BB's web portal today, thought I'd check pricing at Amazon first, and bought the matched pricing at Amazon to take advantage of the 5% discount with my Prime VISA. Added in a VESA mount too. BB showed 9 days for arrival, Amazon will get it here in 3 days...
