Purchasing my first mobile phone (so lots of confusion). Looking at purchasing the iPhone 11 Pro outright from Apple Online Store.

My needs are somewhat out of the ordinary. I have no personal need for the "phone" aspect since I have a land line and am at home 23 hours a day - so no real need for "talk minutes" except as an emergency phone when in the car. I have never sent or received a "text" - so don't need that. Purchasing mainly for the camera/video features, some specialized apps and to test mobile compatibility on responsive websites I build, but I guess I can do that with WiFi? However, "some" data might be useful?

Any suggestions on a carrier and what configuration I should order from Apple?

My mother uses a Puretalk plan that's $20/month for calls, texts and 500mb data; the sim card cost $3. She uses the home wifi most of the time for data.

Even if you don't really think you need a phone, it can come in handy. For example, ordering pizza and getting texts when it's about to arrive, or being able to get an Uber if you ever get stranded somewhere. You can use it for plane tickets, dinner reservations, etc. Once you have it, you may use it for more things than you'd expect.

There are many MVNOs that use major carriers network and offer much lower rate. To pick a network, you may need to research a bit more on what carriers provide the best coverage and find MVNOs or use their prepaid plan that will match your needs. Most prepaid plans or MVNOs, you can purchase any network iat full cost to ensure it’s unlocked from Apple.

Here is a starting list of MVNOs
