Not for me, LOL, but for my dad. My dad is getting an iPhone 3GS or 4. I advised him against the 4, but still. He tends to drop his phones A LOT, so I'm thinking of a rugged case. I'd also like any ideas for a screen protector, something that still allows you to be able to use the screen.

At this point, I think a wallet case would be a little better. I don't know, I just need some suggestions. He had a Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and now really wants the iPhone. I just don't want him to have to buy a screen every two weeks because he accidentally scrapes it with a screwdriver or whatever. I have the bumper on mine, but now that just that alone won't cut it for him.

If you don't want to spend that much on the Otterbox I would go with the CaseMate Tough case :)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Thanks everyone, the Otterbox Defender looks to be great, has enough padding between the screen and floor if dropped. I don't mind the price to be honest, we're not paying for the phone or bill - His work will. So getting a case kinda helps to even the investment a bit, saves them money from having to pay for any replacement parts that would cost them loads.

its like 20$ at amazon now i think, get the commuter. the defender is too bulky..

Commuter has a very small lip on it, so the front of the screen isn't all that protected. Yes the Defender is huge, but that and cockroaches would survive a nuclear blast

The OtterBox Defender is really good, although, if you want purely DROP PROTECTION, the Impact Band from Base One Labs is the way to go!

Having just come from a 3G, the defender doesn't bug me at all. :)

The ballistic looks nice, but I've heard too many good things about Otterbox and not enough about the company that puts out the ballistic although the ballistic does come with a red "interior" which I liked.

When I got mine, the AT&T rep said they couldn't waive the upgrade fee, but then took it off the case.

dont buy it new, watch the marketplace forums here...i picked up mine for 20$ used.
