Wrapsol ultra front and back, plus Apple bumper.

If you are afraid of scuffing up the metal band with the bumper (which it will), apply transparent but thin tape on the band as well (3M tapes are good once you cut em to fit the band). Since its all covered with the bumper anyway, you won't see the tape.

Alternatively, you can also apply the Wrapsol on the band, but the bumper then will fit tight and will stretch out a bit to accommodate it. You don't necessarily need the bumper with the Wrapsol, but its extra level of protection if you drop it. And provides a nice slip-free grip. Has saved my phone from drop damage few times (though the bumper got nicked a bit).

It depends on what you're looking for.

Ultra Light, Almost-Unnoticable Scratch Protection:
Power Support. Google.

Light Drop Protection:
Bumper Case. Apple.

Medium Drop Protection:
Any of the 9001 billion iPhone cases that cover the back in addition to the metal frame.

Extra-Heavy Duty, I-Can-Use-This-As-A-Baseball-Protection:
Otterbox. Google it.

Back when I still used cases, I used Power Support film along with the bumper case. The bumper prevented the film from peeling (I screwed up while applying it) and disguised the edges pretty well.

Lucky labs strips for the antenna band.

SGP Carbon shield fir the rear.

Case Mate Jett bumper.

Front screen is naked.

Ok my set up won't get me thro a nuclear winter like some cases out there but I like to keep mine as sleek as possible.

i had the incase slider for a while and i really liked it, however, i noticed that it was causing glare from the flash at night so i switched to the incipio ngp. it's not as hard as the slider but i'm pretty careful with my phone and i think it offers enough protection for my needs.

it looks great and they can typically be found on ebay in the 10 dollar range.

Im using the Case Mate Jett metal bumper at the moment.
I have lucky labs antenna strips and a SGP skin carbon black shield on the back. I prefer to keep mine as naked as possible but stop scratches.

Some prefer cases that would protect their phone thro a nuclear winter but that's the beauty of choice !

I'm not a big fan of cases. However, I do have the Incase Snap case on my iPhone, and I absolutely love it. It provides minimal protection, but that is pretty much all that I really need.

The best case for the iPhone 4 depends on the kind of protection you want your phone to have.

iphone thin snap on cover

Found a great snap on cover by incase which has open bottom and top. But its a little too pricy...anyone know of a similar one that costs less?

Can someone recommend me a nice soft case - something similar to the incase slider but maybe a bit more colourful (nothing too girly)

I alternate between no case and a simple Casemate Egg (very grippy and has saved the phone drop onto concrete)

What is the best case ton use for the iPhone 4? Is the bumper good?

The bumper does little to protect your phone from damage if it drops. I would recommend Switcheasy cases if you're on a budget. Alternatively, on the cool spectrum, I would recommend the 'whatever it takes' cases. Those are rather cool and fashionable IMO.
