Like so many of you I have also ordered one of the new MacBook Pros. First of all, let me say I ordered the 14" M1 Max (10/32/16) with 1TB/32GB due to being a very mobile user. I travel a lot, use my laptop on trains and busses commuting to work. I've had most of the different portable Macs and always find myself loving the lighter Macs and keeping the heavier on my desk either at home or at work. I want the most efficient device and the lightest and since this one has most cores I think it will benefit in many workflows where I need more computing power for shorter bursts. The 16" would be better if I needed a steady flow of high power but as weight is a priority I rather have the power when I need it, and less weight otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, the bigger screen and better sound is always nice, but on the go I almost always have headphones and a constricted space where I rather place a cup of espresso next to me than having speakers that I won't use anyway. I can remember hundreds of times when I've actually had the coffee cup placed ON the speaker bar due to space constrictions :). NOT OPTIMAL. With the 13" M1 I carry daily I can easily have my internet-sharing phone next to the computer, and a cup of coffee usually. Or have lunch and the computer conveniently next to it.

BUT, this is not the only importance for me, as the thread states. I want to keep my chargers to a minimum when traveling, optimizing the weight and charge time. As I use many devices, from laptop to iPad, headphones, iPhone, cameras etc I need a charger that is both light but also good enough to charge all of these devices as quick as possible.

As some of you might know the older 87W charger that was common with the 2016-2019 laptops is mostly beneficial on 20v which means that devices that can't charge over that charges slower than with the 20W charger for example. This is due to its 5.2@2.4a max output (12.5w) compared to the 20W iPad charger that can do 5V@3a(15W) or 9V@2.22 (~20W)

The new MacBook Pro 14" can fast charge over USB-C so I do not need to carry a MagSafe cable around just for this device, but I prefer to be able to not also carry the 96W charger as it is already bigger than the 67W charger, that is also bigger than the 61W charger the M1 13" Pro comes with.

As the M1 Pro and Max devices pull more power than the 13" M1 models do I realize that I might need to bump up from 20W to another charger to be able to actually work on the device and charge it at the same time, with the 20W I guess the device will charge in standby but on everyday tasks actually not charge at all mostly.

So, lets see if we can find some good and light chargers that are both small and efficient to charge devices that use 20, 5 and 9 volt primarily. As I am located in Sweden I guess it will take some time for my order to ship so I won't be able to do any testing myself for now but if you have, let me know :)

Kind regards the latest geek here :D
