Hi- I'm looking for the cheapest possible digital camera that works with iPhoto and produces fairly good (acceptable) photos. Thanks in advance.

i have a fuji2650 2megapixel and its been great. I think they are about a $179.00 bucks. anyway go to steves digicams sight and you can read reviews of the digital camera's.

I ended up getting a Fuji 3800 but only because I was splitting the cost with someone.
Before we decided on that, I was going to go for the Fuji 2650 that Don't Hurt Me mentioned. I did a lot of research -- the 2650 is very well reviewed, and Fuji makes really good cameras in general.

if anyone is looking for a good camera, be sure to check out www.dpreview.com

but in your case, you can always just get any camera that uses smartdisk or compact flash and buy a USB card reader (around $20). i used to do that, it worked perfect with iphoto.

dpreview is a really good site.

my budget was 400 $, and i needed a high optical zoom at least 3 mpi camera. i searched all (seeing the models first at jandr.com) that had the charachters i needed, and ended up with one that cost 100 $ more but was what i needed. (well at least saved the tax ordering online..)

i would go for something that is 1,5-2 mpi. don't get the minolta dimage small model, it's image quality isn't very sharp.

jandr.com has like 120 digicam models, the cheapest starting like in 50 $ or less. see some of the models, and just hope to find someone that has any of those models around.. :)

The Nikon coolpix 2000 is a good camera; it has 2 mpi resolution and 3X zoom.... its also a Nikon :) I have the 2500, it's essentially the same, except the 2500 is the one that swivles. MY only complaint is that the auto settings could be better. Under manual mode you can set the camera to be sensitive to certain types of lighting, like flourescent, bright sunlight, clouds, on incandescent light. It's a great little camera. The 2000 is $199 and the 2500 is about $250.

Thanks for the recommendations guys- I just ordered a refurbished Fuji FinePix 2800 camera for $199 (comes with a mini tripod and an extra 32MB card also). I was going to get the 2650, but I saw the 2800 for only a little more and figured why not.

I also have a Nikon Coolpix 2500 and love it. It actually gets really great shots. I do nature photography for fun, and I've had some shots of various flowers framed for family. They turned out great. The macro mode is pretty good too.

Now I just have to save up for the Nikon Coolpix 5700 - 5 megapixels and an 8x optical zoom! :D

I have the coolpix 3100, good camera for the price. The canon a70 is also a sure bet.
