Best compromise (price/perf) for Audio

Hello, what would be the best compromise between price and performance for audio processing : using Logic 9, a firewire 800 interface, many plug ins, for recording and mixing ? I don't care about graphic performance, nor gaming, and a huge 2tb external HD is ok for me, so no expansion required.

I am talking about pure processing power : nb of tracks used without clipping, nb of plugins, time to bounce, etc...

Would the new Mac Mini strong enough compare to a Imac ?
