I got a couple of WDs in December from Newegg for $125 each. That was with the Paypal promotion, though.

It shouldn't take more than a week to find some for $140-$145, shipped for free. Someone is always running a sale. If Dell has a competitive price, get one of the $25 off coupons that's been on eBay.

Barracudas are quite noisy if that matters to you. Have a look at WD SE Caviars or Samsungs if you want something quiet.

how about the hitachi deskstar or ultrastar systems? how are those rated by you guys? the reviews have been pretty nice for them so far.
