just bought the latest MacBook Pro, 15 in, and trying to find best way to copy over the stuff i want. Using wireless network, it started copying over Everything and i had to abort. The point of new computer was clearing out the junk (plus was slow). How best to copy only files and folders i want?

Also, iMessage did not update and give me all my messages. Or apple mail. Or iBooks. And i did check my iCloud settings.

What am i missing?

Target Disk Mode using Thunderbolt is a sure bet for fast, selective transfers.

How do you get into target mode? Is it just holding down "T" while you're restarting? if you have multiple partitions, can you access both from another computer?

I use SuperDuper! on daily basis for creating a bootable backup (to a Seagate external drive) - if I need to transfer any data to another Mac, I just connect the external drive and copy the required files.
