I currently have a paid off IPhone X on TMobile. I am thinking of upgrading to the IPhone Pro Max and wanted to know how should I approach this. Apple will give me $400 for my trade in. Gazelle is around $350. Should I just take Apple’s deal? My wife doesn’t want a new phone so any T-Mobile BOGO offer doesn’t really move the needle for me. Any thoughts?

If there is a BOGO deal without adding to the contract I would still go for that. You can always sell the phone you get for free with the deal and recoup some of the cost.

I've read good things about Swappa, and have had mostly good with some negative experiences selling on eBay. Both tend to fetch higher prices than Apple's trade in.

I have done the EBay route with mixed results. I tried Swappa two years ago but I wasn’t the biggest fan. I didn’t realize I could sell the BOGO device. I might go that route then.
