Will that specific ram fit in the new macbooks? I remember something about 200 pin, but I don't really know a whole lot about this. I just want the 4gb...

you need 204 pins DDR3 Ram. They have the exact same stats as the one in the actual Macbook, so no trouble.

apple ram buyback program

take your macbook and receipt to an apple store within 14 days of purchase. tell a manager you wish to participate in the apple ram buyback program. they take the machine (technically they buy it from you), yank the ram out, send it back to apple, and sell you an additional 4 gigs for 150USD, the same as what it would cost to buy it from the apple site directly.

does that cost you a net $150, or do they give you money for the 2GB they 'buy' back? If not, then its more expensive than buying it yourself and burning the 2GB Ram.

perhaps mac rumours members could pool up and create a giant pile of 2GB chips as they are pretty much useless.
