Best Dell for £500

Hi guys ive got a problem heres the story,

The otherday my dad dell broke so hes claimed on the insurence (new for old) and they have given him a credit voucher for dell for £500 can you advise me on the best laptop to get as we are going to sell it on ebay and then buy a mac with an exta £400 for the macbook pro
