Best display for the money and my needs?

Greetings.

I'd appreciate suggestions on the best display/brand for the money. I am buying a MacBook Pro for my home and commute computer, and I don't do much beyond MS Office and internet. No games, no video production, no PhotoShop, but old eyes.

I suspect I don't need anything more than 24", and I do know that an Apple-brand (LG made) monitor would cost more than others. Samsung? Dell? LG?

I'd appreciate recommendations.
