Hey everyone,

I've been interested in purchasing an external dual layer DVD burner for quite some time now and I'm finally ready to pull the trigger. Anyone have any opinions as to which brand or model is best? It just need to work with Tiger 10.4 and I'll be using Toast Titanium 8 to burn my discs.

Thanks

Alex

Many people highly recommend the Samsung 203 models (quiet and reliable) - then buy any firewire external case

I've also used 2 types of LG drives - Both worked but are noisey
My newest Asus drive is also very quiet but slower to mount disc's

+1 for the LG, mine is a little noisy too. I just used a USB to SATA adapter, and stuck some thick rubber feet on the bottom of the drive. Works fine and only cost me about $35. I haven't tried the Lightscribe feature yet.
