Best DVD ripper

I am new to macs and have just bought a mackbook pro with snow lepard. I want to back up some DVDs (legally) to watch on my mac when travelling and onto an external hard disk.

I have read a lot about handbrake, mactheripper, ripit etc. and there are many conflicting views as to which is best.

For simply ripping a dvd to the hard disk for watching on the mac dvdplayer which app would be most suitable for me????
