I need to get a DVI adapter for my SGI 1600sw LCD, which I would like to continue using with the mac pro I'll be getting in a week.
I am currently using an adapter that goes into my PCI slot on my g4 powermac, but there are no PCI slots on the mac pro.
My options are the SGI multilink, and the pix-link adapter. The price is essentially the same ($270-300 shipped).
What I can't find is much info on which is better. The little info I can find indicates that both work well. Both allow the same adjustments/calibration from what I can tell. The pix-link is a little more stylish looking (aluminum case to match), and I may not be able to buy a new multilink adapter (as they are no longer in production), whereas the pix-link adapter will be new for sure.
Another thing is that if better ACDs come out, I will likely want to switch to them, so resale value of my monitor + adapter combo is a factor as well.
