Heyo.

I used the search feature with not much luck. I just got my new (refurbished) rMBP yesterday and want to install Flight Simulator X (haven't played in too long) on my Windows partition, and then I realized I don't have a disc drive any more.

Anybody have recommendations besides Apple's $80 one?

If you would get any use out of a Blu-Ray burner, I would highly recommend this one on Amazon, it's cheap, works great and OS X likes it (even DVD Player will play DVDs on it). The build quality isn't great, but I've had it for over a year and it works great.

This is the one you want http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00920VAJE/ref=cm_sw_su_dp

It's USB 3 also! :) I've been using mine for over a year and it works flawlessly.

USB 3 is huge overkill for a DVD drive. If it's not around a 6x or faster Blu-Ray drive running at full speed in that enclosure there's no need for USB 3, even USB 2 can handle that.

For Blu-Ray recording, the USB 3 does make it much faster.

Sweet! So it'll work just like the disc drive housed in my old Macbook with the addition of reading/writing Blu-Rays?

This looks like it's just an enclosure for a drive... which I don't have. Am I right?

seeing as you already have a license for the disc, why not download the iso from somewhere - saving you $80 on buying an external drive...?
