Best external display for 13" rMBP

Hi

I have a 13' rMBP 512 GB 8 GB RAM on El Cap, & would like an external display.

Would this display give a similar quality to the new r iMac 21.5 and complement the rMBP 13" in clamshell mode?

That is only a 1080p resolution so nowhere near that of the 4K retina iMac.

Which year do you have for your macbook? Anything older than late 2013 won't run 4K and to be honest it hasn't had the best reports @ 4K 60Hz until this years model with the IRIS 6200 graphics.

Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

Sorry mate meant 6100, should be fine on that.

As for monitors I don't use one myself so I can't suggest anything, do your research and trawl amazon you'll probably get a good deal there.

With OS X Yosemite v10.10.3 and later, most single-stream 4K (3840x2160) displays are supported at 60Hz on the following Mac computers:

• MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

You need Mini DisplayPort (or Thunderbolt) for the connection though. The in-built HDMI port doesn't support 4K displays at 60 Hz.
