I'm looking for an external display for my white MacBook. It is of the first generation (2.4 GHz Core 2, 10.5.5). I like this computer very much, but the only thing that bothers me is the fact that the resolution only goes up to 1280x800, which is a step down from other laptops I have used (1440x900 on a MacBook Pro and 1920x1200 on an HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook running Vista). Knowing these two things, I have some general questions.
1.) What is the maximum output resolution of the Mini-DVI output with an adapter to a digital display?
2.) What is the best value on a display out there based on size, max resolution, and contrast ratio? Any brand is OK for me, and response time does not really matter as I am not an avid gamer (RollerCoaster Tycoon is my game of choice)
P.S.: I do not want to spend $900 on a LED Cinema Display
