What do you think is the best external hard drive and enclosure? I am looking to possibly pick one up for my MBP but can't really decide. I am assuming anything with a firewire connection will do seeing as Thunderbolt isn't an option at this point.

I really don't care whether or not it's a 2.5" or 3.5" unless there is a reason I should choose one over the other. I am almost leaning towards a 2.5" because it's smaller and most likely quieter.

I picked up a 1TB Western Digital My Book For Mac and have been using it as a Time Machine drive (and also to copy stuff) for some months now and it has been wonderful. It is quiet and backs up everything automatically.

Wow. Probably the most expensive I have seen.

Yea, Glyph is a bit pricey...but their enclosures are top notch and service is 2nd to none. They even do data recovery at no charge if one of your drives crap out.
