Western Digital My Studio HDDs are quite good. Have a dozen of them and none have failed yet, even when thrown around the house (while off though).
But don't get the one with the external display.
Maybe MRoogle can find you one or two of the hundreds of already existing threads about this.

Not really. I've retired most of my drives because they have been replaced by bigger and faster models. A few die but most don't. After 3 or 4 years you won't want to replace a dead drive with a similar model.
