So, I ended up getting a iMac with 256ssd on it and I was wondering what would be a fast/reliable external hard drive that I can use with it? Preferably 1TB and something that Apple store has since I have a $150 gift card from them.

I will be moving mostly movies and jpg files in it, nothing else.

What's the difference between USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ones? I understand that SSD ones are more reliable but they just seem to be too expensive. I prefer to stay under $200. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

For what you described I would shop mostly based in price and just get one of those $65 G-Tech drives they show there. For a hard drive, Thunderbolt's extra speed capability is not really going to help anyway.
