I switch (very often) between a home iMac, MBPro, work iMac, and a 12" Macbook when I travel. I have a ZILLION iTunes TV shows and movies that I often watch and re-watch. I'm at the point where I can't but a 2TB SSD on every Mac I buy from Apple, so my two questions are:

What is the BEST external HD solution REGARDLESS of the cost? Is there like a dependable 2TB SSD external portable option, or something along those lines? I have far more than 1TB of TV shows alone- so I'm thinking 2TB or more would be best, but speed and performance is a greater priority than size. Price doesn't matter in this situation.

And 2) is that a good idea? Are there disadvantages (besides having to move the physical HD from one machine to the other (which I don't mind, by the way)...? Will there be lag, or less crisp picture, or a delay, etc...? I want the best quality picture and sound possible.

Looking forward to suggestions from people who have done something like this before... thank you!
