Best FaceTime sites for security conscious?

Hi guys, newbie here... looking for a network of facetimers that lets me control who sees my details... yes I'm paranoid. Google did'nt help much, I assume theres heaps by now... any suggestions?

Somebody mentioned a new one here yesterday called facetimebff dot com - it's ment to be safe as you control who gets your details. Also it's easy on the eyes, which never hurts. Downer is it seems new so not many users yet, but it's a good alternative for ftfun, has potential.

No it's the opposite, facetimebff dot com doesn't randomly 'chatroulette' you with people like other 'facetime' sites, and i've tried most of them. It's like facebook meets twitter, you message other users within the site and only give out your facetime details when you’re comfortable, very simple. The site limits how much you can say to other users and write in your profile to try encourage you to "save it for facetime" (as they like to put it) and get you facetiming quicker. I've been using it for a few days now and can say it's a pleasure to use, nice functionality, visuals and good variety of people to facetime with, did I mention 30% of users are female! Ftfun users will appreciate that Seems like new users keep joining daily, so it will be a great size community in a few months.

Definitely recommend everyone tries it.

I'd say it's just to chat with random people, like going into a chat room where you don't know anyone. I can see the appeal (I guess?) but I would certainly never put my phone number or email address on a web site for random people to contact me, that's just....crazy.

Like Interstella5555 mentioned, just as people used to chat with random users on MIRC/ICQ back in the days and as they video chat now on skype etc, this is the next evolution of "meeting new people". In 5 years there will be no more ‘minutes’, all calls will be data and everyone will be video chatting on their mobile devices on the street over 4G networks, the days of being tied down to wifi will be long gone... especially when you consider the amount of facetime devices that will be in the wild by then...

I totally agree Interstella5555, it IS crazy! I would never put my email address on a public site for the world to see (surprisingly lots currently do!), but that’s the beauty with facetimebff dot com is nobody can see your details, only YOU supply the other user your details IF you want to, all they can do is message you internally within the site, you can easily block them from contacting you if they hassle you (obviously before you give them your contact details). So far all the members I’ve facetimed with are nice, all apple fans who want to try facetime!

Of course this is not for everyone, a lot of people just want to facetime with people they know... but if they don’t know anyone with a shiny new apple device how will they test their new video chat feature? It's a grey market, but it’s there for the people who want to meet new people, and clearly by the amount of users already on the site it must be a popular thing to do.

I remember when the 2G came out I went to the Apple store with my gf to check them out. I wanted to see what it felt like to hold one on a call and check it out, so I had my gf go outside and I called her. Everyone at the display table stopped and stared at me, apparently no one had figured they were capable of making calls. Anyway, I didn't think to clear the number, but luckily there were no random calls.

Wow I’ve caused a bit of a stir! The reason why I want to be in control is so I don't end up with some dudes junk in my face. Besides, I have an iphone4, why would I go and buy a webcam? All those roulette sites give you no control over who you video chat with, so maybe I should have mentioned I'm NOT looking for random chat either... my bad.

Friendly community, with heaps of new users every day and great functionality. Also there’s heaps more women on there than I expected! Which is always a nice surprise User base is still growing so I’ll definitely be spreading the word about this gem, the more people we get on there the better

It should work fine, everyone else has signed up so keep trying. Have you guys checked out facetimebff dot com lately? Theres literally hundreds of active people on it now. Massive increase recently, good mix of people from all over the world and best part of all theres plenty of women! Check it out!
