I'm planning to buy an external firewire drive, at least 500G, to hold music and videos for my iPod. Do you guys have any advice as to best models? I've looked at the Western Digital MyBook, but heard some bad stuff about them and have a WD 250G Passport which is super-tempermental. Any word on the Seagate ones? LaCie? Feedback on which you guys like best will be much appreciated.

Also, do you buy at brick & mortar stores, like Frys or Best Buy? Or go online? Best deals/service?

I bought a WD MyBook 750GB with Triple interface that has been working wonderfully well for me. I got it as a great deal on clearance at Best Buy.
