Best Format Type for New External HDD?

hey guys,

I got a new 1TB hdd for general backup usage and I was just wondering what the best format type was?

I don't care about using it with a PC so is the best option "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)?

I don't really know the other types and what advantages they give...

Yes. It's the native/default Mac OS X format.

thanks..i thought journaled wasn't that big of a deal and uses more resources...
