I have been using Hallmark Card Studio with my iMac for several years, and after upgrading to macOS 15.2 yesterday, it stopped working (it crashes when I click "Choose a Design"). It worked perfectly with 15.1.1. Are there any other good greeting card programs that will work with 15.2? Hallmark's web site only mentions compatibility with macOS 14. TIA.

I have the same issue - I’m so so upset as I’ve used a Hallmark card program for at least 20 years and now it’s not compatible with my new MAC. Have you found another card program that will work?

I had the same problem.

I wrote to Hallmark: custsvc@hallmarksoftware.com

And received this repsone on Dec 16, 2024

Thank you for contacting Hallmark Software Technical Support.
We apologize for the inconvenience. The Hallmark Card Studio for Mac v22 is only compatible with macOS 10.14 (Mojave) and later including the latest macOS 14.1.1 (Sonoma) as stated on our website. Our developers are aware of the issue but we cannot guarantee when a solution will be available. Please visit our website in the coming weeks to check if the system requirements have been updated.

I have an old MacBook that can't run anything past Ventura, so I have been using that laptop for making cards. :(

“We wanted to inform you that, unfortunately, this version is not compatible with the latest macOS 15.2, and a replacement will not be available. We understand how disappointing this may be, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.”

Check out Cardia from Addison Software in the App Store. It does not have a catalog of images but you can find any image you want on the internet and use that. It works with Big Sur all the way to the latest Sequoia and is regularly updated. And it's designed for the Macintosh and only for Macintosh. No Windows nonsense.

Recently the Hallmark Card Studio web page added the following info: "FULL macOS 15 (Sequoia) COMPATIBILITY UPDATE AVAILABLE EARLY MAY 2025". I eagerly await this update and hope it doesn't cost too much (I think it should be free for users who have already purchased the product before the Sequoia incompatibility issue came up).

Well, here it is July and the update still hasn't been released. What are they doing--waiting for macOS 26? I had to spend 2 hours yesterday on an old MacBook that runs Ventura trying to print a card (it suddenly couldn't communicate with my printer after printing one side of a card, then forced me to reset my administrative password).

Yup. The Hallmark Cards brand was unique for so many years but with the advent of PC apps that allowed people to do their own cards, the Hallmark card sales took a dive. So instead of developing a first class app for the cards, they mucked around with old borrowed code and published something that was usable but had to be patched at every Mac OS. I tried the Win version but it's just as bad.
I'm using Swift Publisher in the interim which is what Hallmark should be but doesn't have the vast library of Hallmark pre-designed cards. If anyone knows how to access the Hallmark library (we paid for it) let us know.

I feel your pain, I've relied on Hallmark Greeting Card Studio for many years for all my at home card printing, and once I updated to Sequoia, that was the end :(
I've contacted them, have a ticket in with them, and check the website weekly, hoping and waiting they will release a version compatible with it, but I'm getting the feeling it may never happen. I've looked at other programs, but they all seem to tedious and not as easy as Hallmark was. I'm so disappointed as I am making many trips to the dollar store now to get greeting cards. Big SIGH.

UPDATE: Dec 19, 2024
I emailed support@encore.com about The PrintShop for Mac.
I plan to purchase the program.

Here is Broderbund's reply:

Yes, The Print Shop for Mac, SKU: 45710, is compatible with Mac OS 15.2.

Did you switch or have you used Print Shop vs. Hallmark, and if so, do you like it as well as Hallmark?

You can't add to the Swift Publisher library itself but you can create your own library on a folder or in Photos. Actually Swift Publisher imports images from anywhere including Photos. If you need background removals, use Preview and save it to Photos or a folder with your personal library of images. You now have the equivalent to Hallmark but without the premade cards.
