I just used Handbrake to put Gran torino on my 13" MBP and it took well over 1hr 20mins to do it. these were my settings:

output settings :
format: mp4

video codec: h.264
Average bitrate: 1500kbps

Picture settings:
Anamorphic: strict
Crop: automatic

Unchecked grayscale encoding and 2pass encoding.
Im just trying to put movies on my harddrive so i can watch them thats all. Anyone got better settings or something i miss, if you got a screenshot of the settings i would greatly appreciate that also!

thanks alot!

Doesn't Handbrake have a "fast" preset? Also, 1 hr 20 minutes to encode a movie that's over 2 hours long is very fast already...

That speed at those settings is very good indeed.

To make it instantly faster you could use MPEG-4 encoding, quality's not quite as good but it's boatloads faster than H.264.

oh ok, i was trying to get it down to maybe 30-45 mins? but yeah you guys are right the quality is very good at these settings!

thanks alot
