I've given up trying to keep all my files on my 120 GB harddrive on my MBP and regardless of the effects on applecare I'm going to upgrade.

I want at least 250 GB and wouldn't mind getting above 5400rpm. What drive should I get and from whom?

Thanks for any advice.

I've had good luck with the WD scorpio black 320 gig 7200 drive. Every drive has proponents and detractors, and every maker occasionally makes duds. tom's hardware guides have some good comparisons of the 7200 rpm drive online.

Personally, I'd pay the extra and get the drive from a brick and mortar retailer so you can swap it out immediately if you get a brick.

Finally, the late 08 models have user replaceable hard drives, so they won't void applecare. If your HD goes kaput, applecare won't cover it.

I have an older MBP.

An brick and mortar stores you would suggest? Also, what is the model I would look for?
