I need to capture a "frame" from a DV as a frame for publication. Obviously I can capture the frame in iMovie. However, what is the best method to capture a frame with the highest resolution possible? Any advice on this> It will end up being a stand alone TIFF hopefully.

Your resolution is capped at 720*480 (hopefully you can find a shot w/little or no motion to help reduce the amount of image detail lost to interlacing) so I hope the publication isn't expecting a large and/or detailed printed image.

de-interlace it

once u export it with iMovie- (only know how with FCP- sorry, but should do fine in iMovie)- deinterlacing it in photoshop is great. it's under the filters>video toolbar. It removes all those pesky lines :)
